Saturday 21st March 2026
Award-winning broadcaster Steph McGovern has worked in journalism for more than 20 years, eight of them as part of the BBC Breakfast family. She went on to star in her own BAFTA-nominated live daily show, present a podcast with ITV political editor Robert Peston, and become a regular panellist and host on the BBC’s Have I Got News For You, before joining the Crimewatch team.
In her debut novel Deadline, TV reporter Rose is told live on an early morning show—via a hacked earpiece—that her daughter has been kidnapped. She must follow the hijacker’s instructions live on air.
Steph will be in conversation with crime-writing queen Mari Hannah, patron of the Morpeth Book Festival, for what promises to be a gripping and insightful session.
