Saturday 21st March 2026
Born in Glasgow, the daughter of Mastermind legend Magnus Magnusson and journalist Mamie Baird, Sally Magnusson grew up in a house filled with stories. After working in print journalism, she enjoyed a high-profile career presenting flagship television and radio shows.
An acclaimed author of factual books, Sally published her first novel, The Sealwoman’s Gift, in 2018. Her fourth novel, The Shapeshifter’s Daughter, draws directly from the tales her father told her about Norse myths from his homeland of Iceland. In this latest work, old tales of gods and goddesses are mingled with the experiences of characters in modern Orkney.
Sally will be in conversation with Edward Bindloss, offering a rich and personal insight into myth, memory, and storytelling.
