The Montgomery Songwriter Sessions,
with Jeb Loy Nichols, Lou Dalgleish and Michael Weston King

An evening of song and stories - with Jeb Loy Nichols, Lou Dalgleish & Michael Weston King. Three highly-regarded artists, whose music has taken them all over the world, but who call Mid-Wales home, come together for a one-off show.

Jeb Loy Nichols
Born in the American mid-west, Jeb Loy Nichols was raised on a diet of bluegrass, county, and southern soul music.  At 17 he moved to New York where he fell in love with the emerging hip-hop scene.  From there he went to London and 26 years ago he moved to the Welsh hills.   He’s recorded 16 critically acclaimed solo records and, before that, 5 records with the band Fellow Travellers.

‘The high priest of country cool.’  RollingStone  • ‘This guy is good. Believe it. REALLY GOOD.’   Nashville Chronicle

Lou Dalgleish
The former professional dancer (Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom) turned singer & songwriter, released four albums during her solo career in the ’90s, when she also worked with such diverse artists as Bryan Ferry, UB40, and The Brodsky Quartet. For the past 12 years she has been one half of My Darling Clementine releasing six albums, and winning numerous awards. Her song, No Matter What Tammy Said, was placed in the top 25 country songs of the 21st Century by Country Music People magazine. Her new solo album, her first in 20 years will be released in November. She will be showcasing songs from that album in Montgomery.

Michael Weston King
Michael is the founder of UK alt country pioneers, The Good Sons, the other half of My Darling Clementine, and a hugely respected singer-songwriter.

Over a lengthy career he has collaborated with Nick Cave,  Ron Sexsmith, Graham Parker, Steve Earle, Guy Clark and many more.
Michael’s song Riding The Range was recorded by the late, great Townes Van Zandt. His current solo album, Nothing Can Hurt Me Anymore, released this year, has been hailed as his finest work to date, with critics and fellow musicians unanimous in their praise.

‘A beautiful complex piece of work, and the fact that it emerged from such terrible circumstances and unimaginable sadness makes it all the more remarkable.’ Elvis Costello

All three artists will appear on stage together, trading songs and stories, and contributing to each others songs.

They will be joined by the brilliant Clovis Phillips, a musician, and producer, who has worked with all three of them over the years, and contributed considerably to their most recent albums.

It promises to be a unique show.
