MedEquip4Kids

Based in Manchester, MedEquip4Kids improves the health of babies and children in the UK by providing hospitals with equipment not available from limited NHS resources and delivering mental health workshops in schools.

The charity was founded in 1985 and last year our work had a positive impact on the health of 82,168 young people. The equipment and services we provide include:

  1. Medical equipment for children’s wards including neo natal monitors, incubators, pulse oximeters, phototherapy units and vein scanners, improving the care offered to the most vulnerable children.
  2. Enhanced environments to calm and distract children, giving them a better experience of hospital treatment. These include multisensory rooms, soft play areas and sensory gardens.
  3. Specialised equipment such as walking frames and learning stations to give children with disabilities greater mobility and independence.
  4. Training tools to help children to overcome problems with continence.
  5. Resources including books, toys and games for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
  6. The Hummingbird Project, our volunteer-led six-week course for schools developed with psychologists at the University of Bolton to improve young people’s mental health.
