MDG
Maldon Drama Group usually present three full length plays a year in April, June and October and over the years we have covered everything from serious dramas, comedies and TV sit coms to Shakespeare, Pratchett and George Orwell. The productions are all well received and we often receive nominations for local drama awards. Since 2019 we have been nominated for over twenty different awards.
Maldon Drama Group was originally founded in 1952 as the All Saints Drama Guild but we have been in our current format and venue since 2002. We are members of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) and the North Essex Theatre Guild.
MDG events at the Town Hall have a licensed bar.
IN OCTOBER 2026
Bleak Expectations
Come and follow half-orphan Pip's extraordinary exploits with sisters Pippa and Poppy and best friend Harry Biscuit, as they attempt to escape the calculating clutches of the dastardly Mr Gently Benevolent, defeat the hideous Hardthrasher siblings, and deflect disaster at every turn! Will evil be vanquished by virtue? Can love triumph over hate?
This is a hilarious, chaotic caper, featuring dastardly villains, preposterous names, pulse-quickening romances, heart-rending death scenes, and definitely, probably, hopefully a happy ending.
APRIL 2027
Lark Rise to Candleford
A hush rises from Lark Rise like dawn breathing over fields, carrying a young woman’s hopes toward Candleford—a place where letters, lantern‑light, and whispered dreams entwine, and her spirit unfurls like a wildflower finding sun.
