“In the Southside’s Glad Cafe, Henry Parker holds us rapt with superlative guitar-picking and song stories,” -
Lenny Helsing Shindig! Magazine
That quote describes an intimate live set of 70’s influenced original songwriting and reimagined traditional folk tunes by the quietly renowned Yorkshire folk guitarist,
Henry Parker.
Parker’s two acclaimed solo records,
Silent Spring and
Lammas Fair, have led him to share stages with the dearly missed folk legends
Wizz Jones and
Michael Chapman and progressive-rock royalty
Soft Machine, placing him firmly in a world where finger-style folk guitar meets psychedelic aspirations.
His collaborative instrumental album with
David Ian Roberts,
Chasing Light, reached the UK Folk Charts Top 20 and saw the duo perform at
FolkEast Festival in 2025, appearing alongside artists such as
Steve Tilston and
Bridget St John on a stage curated in tribute to the late 60’s and early 70’s folk revival.
Parker curated the highly lauded
Imaginational Anthems Vol. XII LP, a tribute to Michael Chapman, one of his earliest influences within the progressive folk world. A host of new releases are planned for 2026, including further collaborations with David Ian Roberts and a new project with
Goblin Band vocalist
Gwena, in which the pair revive the iconic music of
Shirley Collins and
Davy Graham.
Henry’s highly anticipated third solo album is fully written and currently in development for release in early 2027.
