Lichfield Arts is delighted to welcome Steve Knightley, one of the most respected and influential figures in British folk music, to the historic Lichfield Guildhall.

Best known as the singer-songwriter and founding member of the legendary folk duo Show of Hands, alongside Phil Beer, Steve has spent more than three decades captivating audiences with his powerful songs, distinctive gravelly voice and exceptional storytelling.

Widely regarded as one of Britain's finest songwriters, Steve has a remarkable ability to bring history, contemporary life and the experiences of ordinary people together through music. His songs, including Cousin Jack, Country Life, The Galway Farmer and Arrogance, Ignorance and Greed, have become modern folk classics, combining memorable melodies with thought-provoking lyrics and a deep connection to the communities and landscapes that inspire them.

With three BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards to his name, more than 4,000 live performances and over 50 appearances at Glastonbury Festival, Steve's contribution to British folk music is extraordinary. His songwriting has earned praise from the likes of Mark Radcliffe and Peter Gabriel, while his work with Show of Hands has introduced folk music to generations of new listeners.
