The Barn at Oakwell Hall, Birstall, WF17 9LG
Saturday 5th December 2026 11:00AM
Join experienced Medical Herbalist Joy Holmes (RN, BSc (Hons) Herbal Medicine) for a fascinating exploration of the herbs and spices traditionally associated with the winter season.

Drawing on her extensive knowledge of herbal medicine and 28-year nursing career, Joy will guide participants through the history, uses and health benefits of a selection of seasonal herbs commonly enjoyed during the colder months.

Guests will enjoy warming herbal teas while discovering how plants have been used for centuries to support wellbeing, comfort and resilience through winter.

Alongside the talk, participants will create a traditional clove pomander to take home, a fragrant seasonal decoration with historical roots as a natural room freshener.

This relaxed and welcoming workshop offers an opportunity to learn, share and enjoy the scents and flavours of the season while gaining an insight into the enduring role of herbs in everyday life.

This special session includes:
  • Talk on the traditional uses of winter herbs and spices
  • Seasonal herbal tea tasting
