Run Again
France 2025, U, 65 mins, documentary + director's Q&A
Run Again is a 65-minute French documentary directed by Alexis Berg, weaving together sport, music, and adventure in a story of personal rebirth.
The protagonist is Dave Pen, the long-time vocalist of the English rock band Archive, who has been performing on major European stages for over thirty years. After four years of artistic silence, Dave embarks on a journey to find a new sense of self, choosing to tackle the Spine Race: a grueling 268-mile (over 430 km) winter ultramarathon, considered one of the most extreme races in the UK.
In the film, Dave plays himself, guiding us through his transformation from musician to ultramarathoner. Through powerful imagery and wild landscapes, Run Again explores the physical and inner dimensions of this challenge, built on exhaustion, introspection, and personal discovery.
At the heart of the documentary is the search for balance and the desire to “run again”—not just to push one’s limits, but to find a voice, a meaning, and a new beginning. In this journey of endurance and rebirth, running becomes a metaphor for human transformation and the ability to reinvent oneself in moments of crisis.
