Luck Be The Lyric Tonight - Poetry Workshop
The Archibald Knox Pub, Isle of Man, IM4 3EZ
Friday 2nd October 2026
We are hijacking the September Isle of Man Poetry Society Popin to celebrate National Poetry Day
This is a casual grassroots community event to celebrate National Poetry Day a day late!
Our theme for 2026 is Wonder and Worship, but we are focusing on the small, quiet elements of everyday adult life. We are looking for wonder in simple things—a cup of coffee, the hum of a phone charger, or a quiet moment on a commute.
To make things easier, we are going to use a game of dice to choose your writing prompts for you. Your only job is to write down what you notice. After we write, we’ll take a 15-minute break for some cake and drinks before we hear a few pieces aloud.
Our event is on Friday, 2nd October Luck Be a Lyric Tonight
What: A relaxed, game-based poetry workshop and casual showcase for beginners or experienced poets alike . We are using dice to remove the pressure of the blank page and write short pieces on everyday wonder.
Includes a short break for cake and drinks.
When: Friday, 2nd October 2026 | 7:30 PM – 8:45 PM
Where: The Archibald Knox pub meeting room , Avondale Road, Onchan
Cost: Free admission (Writing materials and dice fully provided)
