Unversed... Written and Performed by Beckis Cooper
Directed by Rachel Fowler
‘It’s against the law of England for me to even stand up on that stage, let alone permission to embody the range of fascinating creatures who speak such glorious verse in these plays!’
Step into the world of Antonia, an ambitious young actor in 17th-century London who is armed with a newly printed copy of Shakespeare's plays but furious that she is forbidden from performing . Inviting you into the rehearsal room, Antonia dares to rehearse Shakespeare's female characters, finding her voice, one bold role at a time.
Created in association with Shakespeare's Birthplace, Beckis Cooper has toured her 'spellbinding' solo-show all over the country and has been dubbed 'a phenomenal tour de force of Shakespearean girl power' (Lincolnshire World.)
‘ A lightning-fast, emotionally charged journey through gender, ambition, and theatrical defiance.'
