The High Tor Players are proud to present August: Osage County, following their recent success with Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, which earned NODA awards for Best Play at District level and Outstanding Play at Regional level. Building on this award-winning achievement, the company is excited to bring another powerful and compelling production to the stage, showcasing the talent, dedication and passion of its cast and creative team.
When the Weston family reunites at their Oklahoma home following the disappearance of their father, old wounds, buried secrets and long-held resentments rise to the surface. At the centre of the family is Violet Weston, a sharp-tongued and unpredictable matriarch whose battle with addiction fuels a series of explosive confrontations. As tensions escalate and carefully guarded truths are revealed, the family is forced to confront the damage they have inflicted on one another.
August: Osage County is a darkly comic and deeply moving exploration of family, dysfunction and the complicated ties that bind us together.
Trigger Warnings – August: Osage County
August: Osage County contains mature themes and strong language that some audience members may find distressing. These include themes of addiction and substance misuse, family conflict, emotional and verbal abuse, domestic violence, bereavement, suicide, sexual references and Inappropriate sexual conduct.
