Tales From Outer Suburbia
Sunnyside Rural Trust | Hemel Food Garden, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 9BY
Saturday 14th February 2026
Hemel Hempstead Sparkle and Ignite groups will each perform their exciting outdoor promenade-style shows at Sunnyside Rural Trust in Apsley on Valentine's Day. Guided by our participants and the characters they play, the audience will encounter and interact with characters from the story on their tour of Sunnyside's best features, including Arit Anderson's peat-free garden that previous featured at Hampton Court, and one of Sunnyside's greenhouse spaces transformed into an art gallery and performance space.
Ignite Hemel will perform their interpretations of short stories from "Tales of Outer Suburbia" by Shaun Tan, where wonderful fantastical creatures emerge from sleepy suburban settings.
Be aware that this is an outdoor event, and the performance areas are mostly open air, so the paths will be muddy! Dress for the weather (think raincoats, warm layers and wellies!)
