When the Catholic Church Becomes a Lifeline: Faith in the Heart of Disaster Zones
A Powerful Jubilee Year Talk by Jo Kitterick – Director of Supporter & Community Engagement at CAFOD

The Guildford & District Knights of St Columba are delighted to invite the public to an inspiring illustrated talk by CAFOD (the Catholic international development charity) on Saturday 22 November 2025 from 10.30am to 12 noon at the public meeting hall immediately next to St Pius X RC Church, Guildford. It's a vital opportunity for anyone passionate about putting Catholic Social Teaching into action.

Join us for an urgent and inspiring conversation about the Catholic Church’s role on the frontlines of conflict, climate change and humanitarian disaster - at a time when global government aid is shrinking.

Why attend?

In this Jubilee Year; a sacred time for renewal and justice - discover how our local parish can stand in solidarity with communities around the world, especially as they face crisis without sufficient global support. Jo Kitterick will explore:

  • CAFOD’s emergency response work in war zones and disaster hit regions
  • How the Catholic Church addresses climate injustice and global inequality
  • What our parish and you personally can do: from prayer and action to political advocacy and parish campaigns
  • The importance of the “Cancel the Debt” campaign and how we can support it
Tickets are just £5 per person and advance booking is recommended at http://www.ticketsource.co.uk (search 'CAFOD'). All funds raised will support the charity's work. There is ample, free car parking at and close to the venue.
