Simon Zhu (violin) & Gordon Back (piano)

First prize-winner in the Paganini and Menuhin Competitions, Simon Zhu is one of classical music’s brightest young stars. This evening he plays Bach’s famous Chaconne for solo violin and a group of Caprices by Paganini. He is joined by Gordon Back in Ravel’s jazz-inspired Sonata for Violin and Piano. Schubert’s tuneful Grand Duo and Wieniawski’s Fantasie on themes from Gounod’s Faust complete the programme. This will be Gordon’s farewell concert as a performer at the Gower Festival.
