A walk for all - Llanrhidian to Wernffrwd - 2 miles

St Cattwg and St Illtyd car park - linear walk, Swansea, SA3 1LS
Monday 7th September 2026 9:00AM
For those seeking a gentler pace without sacrificing scenery, the trail from St Illtyd’s in Llanrhidian to St David’s in Wernffrwd offers a beautifully inclusive way to experience the Gower’s edge.
This linear path skirts the vast, shimmering expanse of the Loughor Estuary, providing a flat and accessible route perfect for wheelchair users, those with mobility aids, or families with pushchairs although there is a short incline at the end.

Accessible walk definition:  A short, largely level route on firm surfaced paths, with no stiles or steps. Suitable for many people with limited mobility. Please contact us if you would like to discuss your individual access requirements.

As you travel between these two historic sites, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the salt marshes and the rhythmic call of wading birds, proving that the peninsula’s most breathtaking vistas are truly open to everyone.

This walk is suitable for accompanied children.
This Accessible walk is suitable for wheelchair users, those with mobility aids, or families with pushchairs.
Toilets: Toilets are available at St David’s church in Wernffrwd.
Lunch: People are welcome to bring lunch, however due to the time perhaps they would rather snacks.
Dogs: Dogs on short leads are most welcome.
9:00am meet outside St Cattwg and Rhidian’s church in Llanrhidian and then walk to St David’s church in Wernffrwd for an accessible walk.

Walk leader Dan Edy is a community-focused faith and wellbeing guide linked to the Gower Ministry Area of the Church in Wales. He is involved in the Gower Pilgrimage Way and helps develop outdoor and reflective walking experiences across the peninsula. His work centres on “Wild Church” style gatherings, encouraging people to explore spirituality through landscape, walking, and heritage. Rather than holding a traditional parish leadership role, he supports engagement with Gower’s churches by connecting faith with nature, wellbeing, and pilgrimage routes across the 17–20 historic churches of the Gower area.
