Story Walk - Voices of the Chartists

St Mary's Priory Church, Monmouth, NP25 3BR
Saturday 3rd October 2026
VOICES OF THE CHARTISTS

Walk into the story. Hear it from someone who lived it.

Begin at St Mary’s Priory Church and follow one extraordinary Chartist as they lead you through the streets of Monmouth, retelling their experience of the dramatic events that unfolded here.

This is not a history tour. It is a story told in character — live, personal and theatrical. Your storyteller, dressed in period costume, will take you from St Mary’s Priory Church to the Savoy Theatre, Monmouth Goal, Agincourt Square and Beaufort Court, before the journey reaches its powerful conclusion at the Shire Hall.

At each stop, the story unfolds. You’ll hear about hopes, fears, friendships, injustice and the moments that changed everything. The places around you become part of the drama, bringing the past startlingly close.

Come for the story. Stay for the drama. Leave with a different view of Monmouth.

Perfect for anyone who loves theatre, storytelling, local history and immersive experiences, Voices of the Chartists offers a unique way to discover Monmouth — not through dates and facts, but through the eyes of someone who was there.

Limited places available. Book your place and walk into Monmouth’s story.

The experience involves walking between several of Monmouth’s key Chartist locations, so please wear comfortable footwear and dress appropriately for the weather.

Meet at St Mary's Priory Church, Monmouth. Tickets will be required to join the tour.
