THE KING, THE CHRONICLER AND THE CASTLE

Two remarkable figures. One extraordinary town. A story that refuses to stay in the past.

Step into medieval Monmouth and meet Geoffrey of Monmouth, the legendary chronicler whose stories helped shape the world of King Arthur, and Henry V, the celebrated warrior king born at Monmouth Castle.

Beginning at St Mary’s Priory Church, this dramatic walking tour takes you through The Priory, Church Street and Shire Hall, before arriving at Monmouth Castle — the setting for the final chapter of the journey.

This is history brought to life through performance and storytelling. Rather than a conventional guided tour, the walk explores the characters, ambitions, legends and human drama behind two of Monmouth’s most fascinating historical connections.

Expect costumed performance, vivid storytelling, intrigue and a few surprises as medieval Monmouth is brought vividly back to life around you.
Walk the streets. Hear the stories. Meet the men behind the legend.

The tour involves walking between several locations in Monmouth, so please wear comfortable footwear and dress appropriately for the weather.

Meet at St Mary's Priory Church, Monmouth. Tickets will be required to join the tour.
