Women Artists in Conflict Zones – Imagination as an Act of Resistance

The Artrium, Houghton Street, WC2A 2AE
Wednesday 28th October 2026 5:30PM
What can art reveal about conflict that peace agreements and reconstruction plans alone cannot capture?

For the first time, eight original artworks commissioned by Artists Project Earth (APE UK) come together in London, featuring women artists from Myanmar, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Syria, Iran, Palestine, Ukraine and Venezuela.

Created amid war, displacement and exile, these works explore memory, belonging, identity and the power of imagination to envision futures beyond conflict.

Organised by Artists Project Earth and co-hosted with the LSE Centre for Women, Peace and Security, the exhibition is curated by Dr May East.
