Tiny Sparks! (for 3-5 year olds)
Discovery Museum, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE14JA
Friday 6th November 2026
Spark your child’s imagination with stories about science and curious objects. This is an opportunity for tiny engineering, inventing, discovering, designing and investigating.
At Tiny Sparks young children, aged 3-5, can explore Science, History and Museum Collections each week through play, craft, activity, song and story.
Tiny Sparks is the perfect place for little ones to socialise and make new friends!
Time: 1-2pm
Where: Discovery Museum, Play + Invent, 2nd floor.
Cost: £3.50 per child, per session, £3 for an extra sibling.
Dates and themes:
There will no Tiny Sparks sessions during December due to our Christmas holiday event programme.
Tickets and themes for Spring 2027 will be added at the beginning of the New Year.
Important Notes:
We need time to prep resources for each little one taking part in Tiny Spark sessions, therefore advance, online booking is essential.
These sessions are for children aged 3 to 5 years old, due to the content, resources, room space and furniture they are unsuitable for babies and younger children - unless they are accompanying an older attendee.
On occasions where we offer both a morning and afternoon session, the afternoon session will be a repeat of the morning session, please do not book to attend more than one session a day.
What to expect:
This series of Tiny Sparks sessions are supported by Art Fund, and have been developed by Discovery Museum and are inspired by Mini Wonders, a programme jointly created and funded by Art Fund, through a generous legacy grant from the Foyle Foundation, and Nesta.

- We recommend arriving early to allow plenty of time to make your way through the museum.
- Please wear clothes suitable for messy play. You might like to also bring a spare outfit with you!
- Other children participating in the session may have food allergies, we therefore ask that no food is consumed during Tiny Sparks. Thank you for helping us to keep everyone safe.
- For Safeguarding, only adults accompanying a participating child will be admitted.
- To run sessions we need a minimum of three children, aged 3-5 years old, booked on to attend. If we do not make these numbers we will contact attendees to let them know.
