Epsom Jazz Club - Andy Davies and Laurence Cottle Quartet

Comrades Club, Surrey, KT18 5BT
Thursday 26th November 2026
As well as welcoming back award-winning Welsh trumpeter, composer, writer, comedian and actor Andy Davies, we are very excited to host for the first time a giant of the bass guitar to Epsom, Laurence Cottle. A simple list of bandmates and collaborators will show the calibre of the man: in addition to leading his own Laurence Cottle Big Band, he has played in Jim Mullen's quartet and in the Alan Parsons Project, and recorded with Mornington Lockett, Tim Garland, Django Bates, Gerard Presencer and John Graham. Then in the rock and pop world, he's played with Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Mike Oldfield and Bill Bruford, and wrote and played all the bass parts on the Black Sabbath album "Headless Cross". Andy needs less introduction, but we must briefly recap some performance and recording credits with the likes of Ian Shaw, Tony Kofi, Guy Barker's big band, the Ronnie Scott’s All Stars and Nigel Kennedy. Andy and Laurence are joined by Ross Stanley and Joel Barford on piano and drums.
Line-up:
Andy Davies - trumpet
Laurence Cottle - bass guitar
Ross Stanley - piano
