Season's Readings

Dorset History Centre, Dorchester, DT1 1RP
Saturday 5th December 2026 3:00PM
Join us for a winter afternoon's treat at Dorset History Centre - a celebration of seasonal poetry, prose and music.
Readings will include works by Dorset authors, past and present, as well as readings from the archives.
This year seasonal music including West Gallery carols inspired by archive recordings will be provided by two mini-choirs, in collaboration with the regional Sounds of the South West project, which is funded by Lottery players via the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Tickets cost £6 for members of Dorset Archives Trust, and £8 for non-members of Dorset Archives Trust.

Tickets for the event will include seasonal refreshments such as mulled wine and mince pies.

This event is being held in support of Dorset Archives Trust, a charity that works to preserve and promote Dorset's rich archival heritage. Its strapline is 'Saving Dorset's disappearing history' and it undertakes this work by fundraising, holding events, supporting projects and promoting the value of archives. DAT works closely with the Dorset History Centre in Dorchester which holds archive collections dating back over 1000 years from across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and wider Dorset.
