The Quiet Work

The new ballad drama of unforgettable live music and stunning puppetry

Before permission. Before precedent. She flew when women didn’t. Drove when they shouldn’t.
That'll be Dora. Dora Walker.
When the First World War called, she answered buying an ambulance and steering it straight into danger.
Told to retire by the sea, she chose instead to master it.
Fisher. Skipper. The first woman to command a fishing boat in the North Sea.Through the mined waters and nights of the Second World War, pistol in her belt, she became the guide everyone trusted.
And that was only the beginning..
A true story of grit, defiance, and also kindness and compassion. A woman who refused the ordinary and inspires the current generation of those who work on or by the sea.
