PTP Year 2 Presents - Macbeth
Cronton Playhouse, Widnes, WA8 5WA
Tuesday 15th December 2026 6:30PM
The Professional Theatre Programme year 2 bring you their interpretation of Shakespeare's classic tragedy. Macbeth is one of the best-known and most-loved plays by Shakespeare and it is easy to see why. It is the play that has it all - murder, revenge, magic, action and a comedy drunk.
The question we try to answer every year with our Shakespeare production is "how can we make this play relevent to our modern audience." This year we have transported the play from Medieval Scotland to a timeless American College. Playing on the all of the recognisable tropes of the high school/college Movies and TV shows we know and love we've filled the piece with Jocks, Nerds and Cheerleaders, a heavy metal soundtrack and plenty of blistering action.
Students have conducted research, undergone stage combat training and created the overall aesthetic for this modern reimagining. We hope you enjoy your time at Dunsinane College as much as we have enjoyed putting it all together.
