Garden Design for Ecology workshop at Astbury Mere

Astbury Mere Country Park, Congleton, CW12 4FP
Friday 4th September 2026 10:15AM
Learn how to design gardens that support biodiversity.
Join an award-winning garden designer; Tom Saunders, for an in-person workshop at Astbury Mere, where you'll learn how to create beautiful, habitat-led garden designs that support wildlife.
Gardens in the UK cover an area larger than all of the country's nature reserves combined, estimated at over 10 million acres. Imagine the impact if every garden was designed as part of a connected network of wildlife corridors, helping species move, feed and recover throughout our towns and cities.
Together, we'll look at:
  • Habitat-led garden design
  • How to make a site assessment
  • Which plants attract different species
  • Practical tips you can apply in your own garden or local green spaces.
  • How to encourage people you know to make wildlife-friendly gardening choices
This will be a mix of indoor and outdoor learning, leaving you with the skills and knowledge to transform your own garden into a haven for wildlife. No prior knowledge necessary - just your enthusiasm!
Please note that booking is essential as places are limited. If you have any questions, please get in touch at [email protected]
