Colourscape: Clapham Day 8: Saturday 19 September: Women's String Ensemble
Clapham Common, Between Windmill Pub and Long Pond., Lambeth, SW4 9DE
Saturday 19th September 2026
Eye Music returns to Clapham Common with Colourscape, the festival that has been at the heart of our programme for over three decades.
Step inside a vast labyrinth of radiant chambers and discover a unique fusion of light, architecture and performance. As you wander through the intense colours and winding pathways, musicians and performers animate the space with live sound, transforming Colourscape into an immersive world of colour, sound and movement.
Whether you are a returning visitor or experiencing Colourscape for the first time, prepare to enter a world of wonder unlike anything else.
Clapham Colourscape Music Festival is made possible with the support of Arts Council England.
Our nine-day festival includes public music weekends together with a programme of school workshops and SEND visits during the week. A special public lunchtime session without music will also take place on Friday.
Today's programme:
SATURDAY 19 SEPTEMBER
11:00am: Colourscape opens without music
11:30am - 3:30pm: WOMEN'S STRING ENSEMBLE brings together Hannah Marshall (cello), Sylvia Hallett (amplified cycle wheel, lyre and other string instruments), Stevie Wishart (hurdy-gurdy) and Bettina Schroeder (electric ukulele) for an afternoon of contemporary music. Performing in a variety of ensemble combinations throughout the colourful surroundings of Colourscape, they explore an extraordinary palette of acoustic, amplified and invented string sounds.
