We Are Making A Film About Mark Fisher + Hotel Zimmer

HARI - Hull Artist Research Initiative, Hull, HU2 8DT
Friday 19th June 2026
We Are Making A Film About Mark Fisher is a 65-minute cinematic experiment exploring the continuing relevance of the late theorist’s ideas on capitalism, culture, and the future. Blending documentary, performance, and hauntological fiction, the film follows Parkins — a time-slipped character — through ghostly landscapes and digital spaces, tracing Fisher’s thought from the 1990s to our algorithmic present.
Created collaboratively by over 70 artists through Instagram (@markfisherfilm), the film embodies Fisher’s call for collective imagination beyond capitalist realism. The film is touring the UK and internationally. The film is directed by Close and Remote (Sophie Mellor and Simon Poulter).

Hotel Zimmer is an innovative new interdisciplinary art project giving audiences the chance to check into a virtual hotel where each room is a portal into AI-inspired art. Presented as a hybrid live-online performance and digital installation, Hotel Zimmer explores how artificial intelligence is impacting society. Developed by a collective of UK-based artists and led by artist and creative producer Roney FM (as “Vader”, your surreal hotel manager), Hotel Zimmer merges digital art and physical performance.

Only 60 tickets available! Tickets £5 or £6 (pay as you feel) plus booking fee.
