CWF26 walk 5 - Slopes of Cwmcarvan, Loysey Woods and Funghi

Wet Meadow (Loysey Wood) car park, Trellech, NP25 4PH
Friday 23rd October 2026
This lovely walk full of variety includes a visit to the church of St Catwg or Cadoc which is normally locked. The route traces the delightful slopes of Cwmcarvan with stunning views across the Vale of Usk to the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons which in our opinion can't be bettered. Towards the end of the walk representatives of Monmouthshire Meadows Group will take us on a visit to Gwent Wildlife Trust's New Grove Meadows, with the option to continue on to Trellech Wet Meadow. It’s a great time of the year for discovering funghi.

Funghi enthusiasts who would prefer to join only the post-walk funghi exploration (expected to start approx. 1:45pm at Wetmeadow (Loysey Wood) car park) can do so by selecting a non-walking ticket. Booking is essential whether joining the walk or only the post-walk activity.

This walk is not suitable for dogs.
