Changing the Conversation Together - Event 3: Talking About Social Care Jobs
The Bradbury Centre, Wokingham, RG40 1XS
Wednesday 5th November 2025
You are currently booking for: Talking About Social Care Jobs. To book one of our other conversations please return to the booking page.
Social Care Future is about working to change the story of adult social care and the words we use are an important part of that change.
Please join us in conversation as we work together on how we talk about social care – in clearer, more human ways that support the future we want to see.
There are three free events, each in a different local venue:
1. What Is Adult Social Care?
Let’s find simple, everyday ways to explain what adult social care is and how it helps people.
📅 Thursday 9th October
🕝 2:30pm – 4:30pm
Crescent Community Centre, Earley
2. Words in Social Care That Make Us Go “Hmm…”
Some words used in social care can feel outdated, unclear or even negative. Let’s talk about which ones don’t work – and come up with better ways to say what we mean.
📅 Tuesday 21st October
🕥 10:30am – 12:30pm
Emmanuel Church, Woodley
3. Talking About Social Care Jobs (You are on this event Ticket Page)
The way we describe jobs in social care affects how people see them – and whether they want to apply. Let’s find words that show the real value of these roles and help attract the right people.
📅 Wednesday 5th November
🕜 1:30pm – 3:30pm
Bradbury Centre, Wokingham
This session will help shape the words we use on the Council’s website and in our strategy. Come along, share your thoughts, and help us make social care language more meaningful and inclusive.
