Mark Beazley // Rothko
(b. London, UK)

Mark Beazley is a London-based experimental musician, bassist, producer and mastering engineer, best known as the founder and driving force behind Rothko. Formed in 1997, the band created atmospheric, largely instrumental music using only bass guitars.

This unconventional approach helped Rothko develop a distinctive sound, blending melody, texture and atmosphere while challenging the traditional role of the bass guitar. Beazley continues to explore its expressive possibilities through collaborations and recordings.

Beazley has become an important figure in the UK’s underground experimental and alternative music scene, renowned for treating the bass not simply as a rhythmic instrument, but as a source of rich, expansive and evocative sound.

Rothko have released singles, EPs and albums on a wide range of influential independent labels, including Bella Union, Lo Recordings, Too Pure, Fierce Panda, Burning Shed, Champion Version, Foundry, Kraak, Zeal, Narwhal, BadHand Records and Beazley’s own Trace Recordings.

Minus Pilots

Minus Pilots create cinematic, minimalist soundscapes built from atmosphere, repetition and gradual transformation. Their music moves between delicate melodic fragments and dense, immersive textures, often allowing pieces to emerge slowly from near-silence before building towards soaring, overwhelming sonic climaxes.

Drawing on elements of ambient, drone and post-rock, their performances focus on space and dynamics as much as melody - creating a sense of scale and tension through restraint, accumulation and release.

Special Guest

Our special guest brings a distinctive voice from the UK’s alternative and underground music scene, with a long history of exploring atmospheric, experimental and emotionally charged sounds.
