Celluloid Scum presents: The Ugly Stepsister (2025)
Whitley Bay Big Local, Whitley Bay, NE26 2LY
Friday 13th November 2026 6:45PM
Join us for the very first Celluloid Scum screening!
Celluloid Scum presents The Ugly Stepsister (2025), a beautifully grotesque body horror reimagining of Cinderella, where beauty comes at a particularly gruesome price.
Evocative of The Love Witch and The Substance amidst 19th-century regalia, The Ugly Stepsister revels in feminine pain, metamorphosis and the torture of expectations. Darkly funny, deeply uncomfortable and unexpectedly poignant, it's a fairy tale of beauty, desire and the horrifying lengths we're expected to go to in pursuit of perfection.
ABOUT CELLULOID SCUM
Celluloid Scum is a new community cinema project in North Tyneside, exploring cult, horror, sci-fi, melodrama and the strange spaces in between. We're interested in making cinema more affordable, accessible and approachable, bringing people together to watch films in local spaces.
