Sàl Tonn

Written off early and never particularly suited to the path laid out for them, Sàl Tonn found another way through creativity.
What followed was a decade spent helping a new generation of artists find their own way through the scattered communities and creative networks of rural Scotland. After years spent making space for other people's work, what would it mean to make something of their own?
Sàl Tonn emerged from that question. From the forgotten corners of Scotland comes music shaped by people, place and connection. Folk tradition sits somewhere at its roots, but these are songs allowed to stretch beyond it; intimate one moment, expansive the next. Sàl Tonn exists to close some of the distance between us. To take music beyond the places it's expected to happen, and to make each place part of the story. A beach. A village hall. A theatre. A festival field. Wherever it happens, the promise is the same. Come as you are, listen closely, and leave feeling a little more connected than when you arrived.
Debut single Paper Armour arrives in October 16th 2026, followed by West of Here, a tour of village halls and small theatres across Dumfries and Galloway. Our Sound The sound is rooted loosely in folk, but reaches much further into atmospheric alternative music. Fingerpicked and percussive guitars sit alongside layered vocals, spacious arrangements and moments that feel almost hymnal. There is a sense of space and repetition to it, moving from very intimate passages into big, immersive sections when the full band comes in.
