American Violist Stephen Upshaw regularly appears in in festivals around the world and has recently performed solo with the Vaasa Symphony Orchestra (Finland). He is also much in demand as a chamber musician, sharing the stage with some of the UK’s best known classical musicians and a part of the award-winning Solem Quartet who have been praised for their '“immaculate precision and spirit” (The Strad).

Huw Watkins is a composer-pianist who the Financial Times has described as "one of the most rounded composer-musicians in the UK." As a pianist, he has given recitals at Wigmore Hall and the Smithsonian and with BBC Symphony Orchestra and London Sinffonietta. As composer, his works have been performed at The Proms and have been commissioned by Carnegie Hall.

Both known for their work on contemporary music, in this performance, Upshaw and Watkins will be delivering some of their own works and those attributed to them as well as compositions from Cardiff University lecturers, finishing with the Schumann.
