Sciences and Humanities: A False Dichotomy
Main Building, Cardiff University, Cardiff, CF10 3AT
Wednesday 11th November 2026
The Cardiff Scientific Society celebrates its 100th anniversary on this date and invites you to this special Centenary lecture. The event is open to both members and non-members of the Society - registration is essential to reserve a space.
This talk will be delivered by The Right Reverend and Right Honourable Doctor The Lord Rowan Williams of Oystermouth.
It will explore how both sciences and humanities make assumptions about the nature of human knowing that may converge as much as they differ. Recognizing that we learn in different ways is basic to understanding our human situation, and we shall be looking at some recent discussion of how both science and philosophy approach this.
