Historian Dr Mike Walker will bring to life the exceptional events in Suffolk, in 1173 – of medieval warfare, invasion, siege, and a battle which would determine the fate of Henry II.
In researching his book about the siege of Haughley Castle and the Battle of Fornham, he uncovered a story packed with dramatic incidents and populated with extraordinary people. The talk shows the ‘forgotten’ Battle of Fornham was the major engagement and turning point in Henry’s eventual success against insuperable odds during the Great Revolt.
