French Bal with Tour de Dance: Free Workshop

Bungay Community Centre, Bungay, NR35 1PU
Saturday 5th September 2026
This is a chance to discover the world of French dance and Balfolk with Tour de Dance. They will guide you through the more familiar dances - some couples, some group, so that you are well prepared for the evening Bal with Anna Pack and Jo Veal.
Phil Williams has been doing English folk dancing from a young age and learned French and Breton dancing from workshops at Halsway Manor (Somerset), Gennetines (France), and local clubs in East Anglia. He plays folk music (violin) mainly from Britain, Ireland, Europe and North America.
Emma started playing flute for the Suffolk French/Breton dance club in 2021.
John Tomlinson has played guitar from a young age and been in numerous folk groups in the Ipswich area since moving there in 1986, when he met Phil. ‘Tommo’ likes quirky rhythms, so Phil asked him to play for On Y Va in 2023 when dance teacher Kerry Fletcher visited to teach 5, 8, and 11 time waltzes, and he hasn’t managed to escape!h
