About the Film
Local film-makers "Inspired Film and Video" explore the true story of Sir Nicholas Winton, a humanitarian who organized the rescue of 669 children from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia, and the local story of some of those children. Connecting their journey from Prague to Penkhull, the film includes first hand interviews about how they were welcomed with open arms into their new Staffordshire homes, and how they grew to have families of their own.

The film was made in 2017 with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The creators said:
"We are passionate believers that history and heritage can be used to make sense of the present and shape the future for the better and this project epitomised this ethos. We hope the film brings a personal perspective to the current plight of refugees across the globe. Although the story of Charles, Hugo, Ruth, Asaf and the other children separated from their families and sent 1500km away to find safe haven from war is over 70 years old, it is impossible not to see its continued relevance."
