Bradford Industrial Museum, Bradford, BD2 3HP
Saturday 6th February 2027
MEMORY MAKING FROM TREASURED TEXTILES
What is it? Transform sentimental clothing, fabric, or textiles into meaningful keepsakes. Over four days, participants work with a skilled facilitator to create memory bears, cushions, wall hangings, or bespoke pieces — preserving stories and honouring significant people and moments.
Who is it for? Adults with basic sewing machine experience who want to create something meaningful from treasured items — perhaps clothing of a loved one, or fabric that represents a new chapter of life.
What will you make?Participants choose from: memory bears, decorative cushions, wall hangings, or freestyle bespoke designs. Helen provides a selection of patterns and guidance; participants can also bring their own patterns or collaborate on custom ideas.
What to bring:
Skill level & suitability: Designed for adults with basic sewing machine experience, i.e. experience in threading a machine and basic machine stitches. No pattern reading or memory-making experience needed.
Duration: Tuesday–Friday, full days (11am–4pm daily)
Commitment: This is a 4-day intensive workshop course. Participants should be able to attend all four days for continuity and completion. Please notify us if you wish to cancel your place so we can open it to the waiting list.
Facilitator: Led by Helen Plumridge-Hill, a designer and maker with 20+ years' experience in creative education, specialising in joyous craft practices.
