Creative Writing Workshop - Learning to Say No (Adults)

Keighley Library, West Yorks, BD213SX
Saturday 28th November 2026 1:00PM
Join Gill Connors for a Creative Writing Workshop on learning to say no and taking care of ourselves.

Melissa Febos says "Consent is a form of communication that happens first within the self." (Febos, Girlhood, 2021)

In this creative writing workshop we will examine our ability and permission, as women, to be able to say no. We will discuss the the subject of consent and how that differs at different times of our lives and with different people.

We'll look at how our ability to say no might change as we get older and with the responsibilities we have. We'll discuss saying no: sexually, at work,  within families and within wider circles. And what happens if we are unable to say no. We'll examine if to take care of ourselves we need to say no more often.

We'll use poems, essays and discussion to produce discussion and new writing, prose and poetry.

Open to new and experienced writers, this warm and welcoming space will be a place for exploration, discussion, writing and sharing what we feel comfortable with.

This workshop offers a supportive and welcoming space for women and people who identify as women.
