'Dear Lupin' adapted by Michael Simkins from the book by Roger and Charlie Mortimer
Bolton Little Theatre Forge Theatre, Bolton, BL1 4TG
Sunday 16th May 2027
Dramatization of the actual letters between a caring father and a wayward son.
Roger Mortimer, a successful racing journalist, is determined to lead his son, Charlie (whose family nickname is ‘Lupin’), down a path towards responsible adulthood. Charlie’s repeated failures prompt a series of witty, exasperated letters from his father. The letters, sometimes hilarious, sometimes touching but always generous, are packed with anecdotes and sharp observations.
The trials and tribulations of youth and early adulthood are received with humour, understanding and a touch of resignation, revealing a warm, affectionate bond between father and son and reflecting a parental love that survives disappointment, chaos, and generational misunderstanding.
Award-winning play adapted from the book by Roger and Charlie Mortimer.
