THE EFFECT

The Effect is a four‑character drama exploring love, neuroscience, mental health, and the ethics of pharmaceutical trials. Connie and Tristan enter a month‑long study for an experimental antidepressant that increases dopamine. As their attraction intensifies, the supervising doctors—Dr. Lorna James and Dr. Toby Sealey—struggle to determine whether the emotions are genuine or chemically produced.

Act Up! BTEC First Year Acting practitioners present their complex, technical, and contemporary adaptation of Prebble's seminal work.
