Stories of Us: Mural Workshop
Beccles Library, Beccles, NR34 9TB
Friday 6th November 2026
Join us create a collaborative mural that can be displayed ‘virtually’ on a public site/wall in Beccles chosen by the participants. A communal artwork, for the community and made by the young people. Exploring large scale artwork and thinking about art in public spaces.
The activity would run over the two 2hr sessions, 4hs in total
Week 1- we would discuss sites in town and themes for their personal exploration, what is important to them what defines them, what is their space. Working with drawing, stencils and paint we will create individual ‘self-portraits’ that are an image that is a representation of them, it does not have to be figurative, it can be more abstracted.
In-between the two sessions the participants can take some photos of possible sites around Beccles for the artwork.
Week 2 - The individual artworks will be brought together into one large mural artwork, OUR SPACE. We will work on the background to unite all the images. This will be photographed and dropped into a photo of a chosen public site. The final artwork to be displayed on screen and social media.
Please book onto both sessions to get the most of the experience!
This workshop is part of Stories of Us, a series of free creative sessions for young people aged 13–18 at Beccles Library.
