Dance Landings: Dancing Deep Ecologies of Place - Online Project Launch Event
Thursday 3 December Online: Free, booking is essential.
7.00–8.30pm UK time |
The Body as Land – Landed Bodies
How might we deepen our understanding of the relationships between human bodies, land and the ecologies of place? What can dance and embodied experiences reveal about how we inhabit, shape and are shaped by the environments we live in?
Join the Dance Landings: Dancing Deep Ecologies of Place team for the online launch of this three-year AHRC-funded international research project. Working across the UK, Canada and France, the project brings together embodied practice and ecological thinking to explore how place-based movement practices can open new ways of sensing, understanding and responding to our more-than-human worlds.
The event features dance researchers Vicky Hunter, Melanie Kloetzel, Karen Barbour, Michelle Elliott and Laurent Pichaud in conversation with Dr Anna Krzywoszynska (University of Oulu), an environmental social scientist whose work explores human-environment relations, ecological knowledge and more-than-human worlds.
Whether you work in dance, the arts, environmental humanities, ecology, geography, science, agroecology, ecopoetics or related fields – or are simply curious about how we might cultivate deeper relationships with the places we inhabit – we warmly invite you to join us for an evening of shared thinking, dialogue and possibility.
Come and explore what it means to be a body of land, a body in place, and a body entangled with the ecologies of our world.
Event duration: 90 minutes Date: Thursday 3 December Time: 7.00–8.30pm UK time Location: Online
When you purchase your place you will then be sent a downloadable ticket and a confirmation of your booking that will include at the end of the PDF your links to get into the zoom meeting
