Creative Writing with Dr Liam Bell
Balfron Bowling Club, Balfron, G63 0RN
Saturday 5th September 2026
Liam Bell is author of four novels, including The Sleepless which follows a sleep-deprived cult in rural Ardnamurchan, and a forthcoming non-fiction book titled Rejection: a user's guide. He is Senior Lecturer in Creative Practice at the University of Strathclyde and lives in Stirling with his wife and two young daughters. His grandparents lived in Balfron for many years, so he has many happy childhood memories of the village and surrounding area.
Liam will be joining us to deliver a two-hour adults’ writing workshop on the theme of ‘warmth’ where you can unlock your creativity, develop ideas and hone your skills. Whether gathering around the hearth in winteror tracking the climate crisis, heat is integral to the way we engage with our landscape, our communities and our families. Using objects and photographs, this workshop will invite participants to explore these ideas through creative writing.
