Want to make valuable connections that could enhance your research impact and career?
This interactive session will equip you with the practical networking skills needed to engage effectively with industry, policymakers, charities and other external partners. You'll learn how to craft a compelling introduction, ask questions that spark meaningful conversations, build rapport through active listening and emotional intelligence, and confidently start and end professional conversations.

Through a realistic networking simulation, you'll have the opportunity to practise your skills in a supportive environment and develop the confidence to build relationships that can lead to future collaborations, partnerships and opportunities.

Over a working lunch, you will learn more about Aston's involvement in the Developing Business-Aware Academics (DBAA) Project,  delivered by the Aston Centre for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship (ACEE).

The DBAA project is a research project, funded by Research England and led by the University of Exeter.  It brings together academics, industry, nonprofits and policymakers to inspire collaborative and impactful research that addresses today’s most urgent societal and environmental challenges.  The project is designing initiatives that will offer doctoral and early-career researchers across all disciplines the knowledge, skills, and networking opportunities to engage effectively beyond academia.
