Solidaritea Workshop
Exeter Custom House, Exeter, EX2 4AN
Friday 22nd May 2026
Solidaritea is a two hour workshop, exploring the relationship between solidarity and hospitality led by Sonia Rashid and Yara El-Sherbini. Sonia is a yoga therapist and teacher, and is involved in many community based initiatives in Exeter, with a focus on women's health and wellbeing. Yara, Sonia's daughter in law, is both a solo artist and half of the artist duo YARA + DAVINA. She is passionate about the role of art within activism, and working with women.
While we actively blend two teas; one invigorating and one calming, we will speak to the needs activist women have to either energize their cause, or find moments of calm. Women activists across different cultures and backgrounds in Exeter are at the heart of spaces of hospitality that create connections, bonds and build bridges between people and their ideas and actions. During our workshop, we will learn about the herbs and their benefits on our health and wellbeing, similar to the effects of being welcomed in community and moments of solidarity has on our own wellbeing.
You are welcome to arrive at the Custom House from 12.30pm and to bring your lunch. We'll start the workshop formally at 1pm until around 2.30pm/3pm with a soft exit.
This event is part of The Considerate Society - Art Work Exeter’s final project as Cultural Partners in Residence at the Custom House 2023-26.
Our Solidaritea mixes will be served at a public conversation event at 2pm Saturday 27th June as part of The Considerate Society takeover weekend - to which you are also warmly invited. Find out more about The Considerate Society here.
