Artist Talk- Mary O'Malley

Artlink Fort Dunree, Ireland, F93C424
Thursday 23 July 2026
Join Mary O'Malley for a free public artist talk in which she will discuss the development of Setting, her solo exhibition currently on at Artlink at Fort Dunree. This talk is an opportunity to learn about the development process of Setting, and view the exhibition before it concludes 26 July.

Setting is a ceramic installation that explores themes of empire, transformation, and the passage of time. Created during Mary O'Malley's Artlink residency at Fort Dunree in the summer of 2025, the work responds to the site's military history while drawing connections between Ireland and the American South through clay, architecture, and the natural world. Bees, butterflies, and gold elements evoke cycles of renewal, asking us to consider human history within the much larger scales of geological and ecological time.

Mary O'Malley is an Irish- American ceramic artist and professor of art. She holds an MA from the Royal College of Art, London, and has exhibited internationally, with work shown at the Saatchi Gallery, the British Ceramics Biennial, and Christie's.
